Robert Reischke

I am a cosmologist working at the intersection of large-scale structure, statistical inference, and novel cosmological probes. My research focuses on extracting information about cosmology, fundamental physics, and the baryon distribution from weak gravitational lensing and Fast Radio Bursts — two complementary windows onto the matter distribution in the Universe.

About Me

I was born in Rostock, a Hanseatic city on the Baltic Sea coast in north-eastern Germany. After finishing school there, I moved south to Heidelberg, where I completed my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in physics, followed by my doctoral studies under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Björn Malte Schäfer. My PhD focused on the statistics of the cosmic large-scale structure, with a particular emphasis on modifications of gravity and their impact on cosmological observables.

After completing my doctorate in 2018, I held a brief bridging postdoctoral position at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology before moving to Haifa, Israel, to take up a postdoctoral fellowship at the Technion — Israel Institute of Technology.

In late 2020 I returned to Germany as a GCCL Fellow at the German Centre for Cosmological Lensing (GCCL), Ruhr-Universität Bochum. Over the following three years I became a core member of the Kilo-Degree Survey (KiDS), leading large parts of its final analysis called KiDS-Legacy.

Since autumn 2023 I have been a postdoctoral fellow at the Argelander Institute for Astronomy, University of Bonn. My current work spans covariance modelling for ESA's Euclid mission and the Rubin-LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration, and developing statistical frameworks to exploit the FRB samples expected from upcoming radio facilities including SKA and CHORD.
